A career built around understanding complicated problems, aligning people with different interests and moving ideas toward implementation.
I have managed private-sector operations, improved systems within public education, developed civic initiatives across New Jersey communities, advised municipal executive leadership, worked on infrastructure and redevelopment initiatives, and now lead the transformation of a historic public institution.
Across those environments, I have repeatedly found myself working on the same fundamental challenge: how to bring people, processes and resources together to move a complicated idea toward execution.
I am less interested in what sector a problem belongs to than in understanding why it exists, who it affects, what resources are available and what it will take to solve it.
It is creating an environment where the right questions can be asked, people with different expertise can contribute, difficult information can be discussed openly, and a group can move from conversation to decision and from decision to action.
My responsibility as a leader is not to own every good idea. It is to recognize good ideas, help strengthen them, connect them with the people and resources necessary to succeed, and create the conditions that allow them to become reality.
I have spent my career working inside organizations and communities where resources are finite, stakeholders have competing priorities and meaningful change requires navigating systems that are often more complicated than they first appear.
The problems I am most interested in solving are the ones that require strategy, collaboration, persistence and execution—not simply a predetermined answer.
